I am presently in New York shooting a film. My time on this site is limited. Please ask the questions and I will get back to you as soon as I can. We are going to have a test screening and if 'UJ' scores high it will come out in a limited release, all of us believe that with word of mouth the release will grow. But it is all up to Sony. For all you Seagal fans, you are in for a great ride back to kick ass Seagal style, gritty and in your face. He does his own fights and there is no dubbing of Seagal, except for the television version which won't air until well after release. The word from Sony, Seagal's entrourage, and various other people that have seen the film is that it is his best work since Exit Wounds and Half Past Dead. Some of them have left word on this site. I really look forward to hearing everyones thoughts after seeing the film. I am trying to get Sony to put a trailer up on the Seagal website, unoffical Seagal website, and Utube for all the fans. Steven Seagal is back!
There are approximately 5 hand to hand fights and lots of gun play.
Very little CGI mostly composites for car interiors.
Yes. He gives a very convincing perormance.
I would think the film title will be changed as there was a film released in the 90's with this title.
The score by Peter Meisner is thrilling and really enhances the film. There are some hip hop songs in the film but all by unknown performers. Great songs especially the final song of the film.
As I say the fans will see that Seagal is back.
This film is far better than Today You Die and Mercenary, it is a better script.
It does have a car chase and a couple of explosions, nothing over the top all real.
A few establishing shots.
The fights are more along the lines of his early films like Above The Law, Hard To Kill, and Marked For Death.
Sony decides on the title. Yes there is going to be extras on the dvd and I guarantee NO VOICE DUBBING.
As it has been stated, it is old school Seagal. I truly believe you will be happy with all the fight scenes in the film.
At the time Steven made the statement he was upset with Sony and it was before we had even completed shooting. Everyone must understand that there are a lot of politics involved in the making of a film. The people close to him that have seen the movie all agree that it is his best work since Exit Wounds. Next week we are giving Steven a finished copy of the film. I am certain that he will be speaking about Hood soon.
Urban Justice is going back to old school Seagal. In the streets and in your face. He plays a bad motherf*cker on a mission. The difference between the two films is EW had a budget and schedule, both of which UJ was limited on. But what we do have is a good film with a story that was made with a lot of heart and sole by the entire cast and crew.
Eddie Griffin plays the head of the East Side Gangsters and he is certainly is not the man you would want to bring home to meet the parents. Comic relief, no...
Steven and Eddie have one scene together at the end of the film.
I truly believe everyone will be happy with this one. No dubbin of Steven, great score and music, fantastic mix with very good effects. Alot happening to enhance a good action film with a good story from a decent script.
By far the best Steven has done since Exit Wounds.
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know weather a movie is bad or good. They are aware (of just how poor quality his last few films have been) and that is why they are so excited about Urban Justice. We pushed as much as we could to make this the best Seagal film in years. From pre-production, through production and all the way through-out post-production. This film is going to surprise everyone.
Steven was working out before and durning the filming. As far as his wardrobe it is some what the same. He was in better shape for this one, allowing him to give a lot more to his fight scenes.
I also was able to see an early version of the film and I agree that this is by far the best film that Seagal has made in a really long time. The action is great, Eddie Griffin is hilarious, Kirk Woller gives a strong performance as Shaw, and Seagal puts in his best fight scenes in years. I hope that it gets the theatrical release that it deserves.
